... first visited Florida about ten years ago with friends thinking it would be a one off holiday of a lifetime, we have just returned home from our fifth visit the place is addictive. Catalina Island ... visited Catalina Island in 2002 whilst on holiday in Los Angeles, the island is one of a series of channel islands in this area. I travelled to the island the the catalina express, a boat service operating from Long Beach right by the Queen Mary (thats a big liner permanently docked there as an attraction and hotel). The journey time was about an hour and went into the port of Avalon. There is another port Two harbors - I cannot comment on this as never visited. You can fly (on a small plane) and it lands on what the locals call the airport in the sky as it is at the top of the island and very small and feels like landing on a pin (not for me I m afraid). Edmonton ... arrived in Edmonton after getting off the train from Toronto which was 26 hours late! We were travel weary and utterly exhausted, but arriving in Edmonton was probably the best place to arrive after such a hellish journey. It is probably the friendliest place we have visited across the world and one of the best bases to set yourself up for a trip to the Rocky Mountains. Within the first 24 hours of being there, a bus driver gave us free tickets on his bus and then got off the bus with us and walked us over to the next bus and told the other bus driver exactly where we needed to get off (we were looking for our campsite!). Catalina Island ... Island Last year i was lucky enough to visit California and whilst i was there i visited this island. Background info This is one of the eight california channel islands.I t is open daily but like many tourist attractions in the area the opening hours where not that great(it was only open something like 9-5 which i do not think is that great for a tourist destination). Prices/things to do and see Prices do change but when i went it was cheap to visit it but then the places to eat there were expensive and since no cars are allowed you have to use the public transport which is rather annoying.I like to do things at my own pace.The avalon casino was the best thing ...
