While in Hanoi I decided to take a Tour with Singh Tours over two days to Halong Bay.

Famous for its appearance in James Bond movies this was the most beautiful scenery in Vietnam. The bay is more of an large number of volcanic rocks that lie between Vietnam and the coast of China. The islands are tower out of the emerald green sea to make it a paradise on earth. There are so many islands (it takes 2 days to navigate through them) it feels like you are the first people to set foot on them.

The trip was organized between our hotel and the Singh Tour operators and cost $15 a person for the two-day trip. A three-day trip was available to see the Cat Ba National Park, which came recommended from people we met, but we did not have time.

On the night spent on the boat we slept under the stars and awoke just before dawn to go swimming in the south china sea. You can take a kayak out to an island if you wish.

If you have a couple of days in Hanoi to spare, spend them on a boat trip around Halong Bay. Its quite simply one of the most naturally beautiful places on earth.
