Nestling in the Arlberg in North West Austria this is a picture perfect resort which provides skiing in the winter as well as summer sports - come the thaw the flowers are stunning.

This is a resort for those who like to relax and take it easy, with a limited amount of nightlife and that which there is, is extremely expensive.

The ski school are extremely amenable and can provide many English speaking guides and the locals as a whole are all very pleasant and welcoming.

For those who like to ski in a relaxed fashion then it is the perfect resort, allowing you to drift around blues and reds for a morning, before taking a long lunch and drifting back down to the resort for the Ice Bars. Oberlech and Zurs both provide beautiful restaurants for lunch and sunbathing - and easy access to the bottom of the hill after too many drinks.

For those who 'ski hard', there have been seven gold medalists from the village, including Patrick Ortlieb who owns a hotel in Oberlech. The ski pass covers St Anton, home to famously fun skiing, however with a guide it is not necessary to leave Lech. It is worth paying for a Guide for a day (Heimo Moshe and Tomas Feirsinger both come highly recommended) to show you the hidden gems and advise you on where to ski when!

If you fancy a hotel then I can recommend The Haldenhof, 3 star but then it's better than many 4/5 stars I have been to elsewhere

In all, a great place to relax, with the option to ski hard or spend lots of money (or both!)
