Description: ...in Germany

Newest Review: ... do, in every year that ends with a zero. It galvanises the whole village and they are, indeed, very passionate about it. When we were there, there was a furious debate about whether or not it should be performed during the daytime. NATO's key training school is also in Oberammagau having been started there in 1953. One of the first things that strikes you about the village is the ... more

Lat year we visited Oberammagau in Germany as part of our journey back to France from Lake Garda in Italy, where our son had just got married. The wedding guests flew to Italy from the UK, but we were already in France so decided to drive there. Rather than risk the deadly Milan to Torino road which we had travelled on to get there, we decided it would be safer to drive through the Alps to get back. It was a spectacular journey which included Austria, Leitchenstein and Switzerland but, by far the most memorable place was Oberammagau, an Alpine village in Germany, famous for it's Passion Play. The play is performed every ten years and involves 2000 singers, ...  Read the complete review

Reason for this report: 1. Personally, I am a railway fan and own a digital model railway in scale 1:87 constructed by Märklin of Göppingen in Germany. 2. Men and women differ much from each other’s. Whereas men are mostly interested in technical stuff, women are more interested in landscapes. In this report I want to invite every visitor to Hamburg to go and see the „Miwula“ as the Mini Wonderland call themselves. Additionally, I shall give a few tips. Owner: At the end of the 90s the Braun brothers Gerret and Freddy of Hamburg had the idea to build the world’s largest model railway and to show it to the public against entrance ...  Read the complete review

Berlin would not, i admit, be everyones first choice for a holiday, but then is anywhere until you have actually visited? I visited Berlin in april for the first time with my husband after he had been himself and been highly impressed. my first reaction was to look at him as if he was mad and then to ignore him for a month until he pestered me into going. I'm very glad he did. ~~~~Flights~~~ The flights to Berlin run from all over the country but we ourselves have only experienced two airports so i shall tell you about those instead. Leeds and Bradford Airport is known to most people and is a clean and friendly place to jet off from if a ...  Read the complete review

At Whitsun I was in Sweden for two hours without leaving Germany, sort of. ? Our day out takes us to the largest lake of Germany, the Lake Constance, in German ‘der Bodensee‘. How large it is is impossible to say, because Austria and Switzerland have a share, too, the border lines run through the water. Our aim is the Isle of Mainau, off the town of Constance (in German Konstanz) on the southern shore with which it is connected by a dam. We went by car to Meersburg on the northern shore, a town straight out of a book of fairy tales, small, steep, with narrow lanes, half-timbered houses, flowers on all balconies, an old and a ...  Read the complete review

I went to Germany a long, long time ago. In fact I was only 15 years old at the time, so really it was not truly a long, long time ago but merely seven years. I decided to write about my trip to Germany because I remember it incredibly well but also it continues my German theme on Dooyoo at the moment this will be book-ended by a review of a German film. My first holiday without my parents was daunting stuff but I had to go. I was heading to the Rhineland that is situated along the west part of Germany. The river Rhine flows all the way down through to Basel in Switzerland. I remember when I travelling through Basel that the Rhine was gigantic in width. ...  Read the complete review
