Other locations...Newest Review: ... still alive somewhere in Greece, it is this place indeed. From the spring we wander down to Marmaria proper, called that because it was used as a convenient marble quarry in the medieval times. This part is free of charge and perhaps that`s why only some tour groups seem to come here, as it couldn`t possibly be the walk up the road from the coach park, could it? Both gymnasium and the temple of Athena are reasonably interesting (gymnasium area provides excellent view of the Sacred Precinct on the mountainside above us), but the focus of the area is the Tholos: a mysterious round structure of which three columns and some metopes have been... more |

Our visit to the Delphi site takes up a good part of a Sunday, and we are many times lucky there. Firstly, the entrance is free on the day as it`s (unbeknown to us previously) an Environment Day. Secondly, and with more luck then design, we manage to stage our visit so that we avoid most of the tour groups as we visit the museum in the lunch hour and the sanctuary - normally the busiest part of the site - towards the closing time. The tour groups here are overwhelming. Apart from numerous Greek schoolchildren which somehow don`t bother me because after all who has not been on a school trip, though mine were to rather less exciting locations. All touring ... My boyfriend and I recently went to the resort of Kokkini Hani, near Heraklion. I thought I'd put a review in as there doesn't seem to be much information on this place. Here goes... 1) Accommodation - we stayed on a half-board basis in the Cosman Apartments. This was the most basic place we've stayed in to date. There wasn't any air-conditioning so it was quite warm at nights (although I suppose the two single beds separated by a small bedside table helped!!!) There were ants crawling near the windows, I think there was a hole there. The curtains were really sheets so didn't really cover the windows properly, I had to be careful where ... Having extensively researched the 'net' looking for hotels for our 5 day stay on Naxos I was undecided when an internet acquaintance suggested that I look into the Hotel Glaros on St. George's beach. The internet site gave just the bare minimum of information and I wasn't overly impressed. The aforementioned acquaintance sent an email after their family holiday in Naxos in May saying how much they enjoyed it. Consequently, I contacted the owner/manager Mr. Alexandros Frantzescos and made reservations. It turned out to be the best decision we made regarding our accomodations during our 2 week holiday in Greece. The hotel itself is pretty ... Read the complete review

Kassandra Bay Hotel We booked this as a late availability holiday from a number we got off teletext. The holiday was actually a Thompson holiday and we booked this through Lincoln Travel. Lincoln Travel provided us with a high standard of service, providing us with lots of information about different holidays on offer. Eventually we booked a week Half Board in Halkidiki in Greece. I arranged with Manchester airport, parking for a week in their long stay car park. This I have found to be far the best option although it is not the cheapest as you just drive to the airport and park in the long stay car park very close to the terminal. A free mini bus ...
