Some tips for travel to Shanghai a) Changing your money at airport avoid the cashpoint it will give only 100RMB notes. Taxis and shops do not like them and will refuse them . b) Change your money get lots of 10 and 5 notes in centre of Shanghai taxi ride starts at 11RMB and averages about 15 c) travelling in Shanghai ask the reception desk to write out in Chinese your destination and if you have a street map ask them to mark it on map as well d) When leaving hotel make sure you have hotel address in Chinese e) Always carry your passport with you . They say you can see it from outer space but it's much better to view it from right under your two feet. I have only had one spiritual experience in my life and it was the day I set foot on the Great Wall of China. Just a little piece of its 6700 km (4163 miles), but it was enough to draw tears to my eyes. It touched my emotions in a way I cannot write here. I had always wanted to visit this 2000 year old wonder of the world and the day I did I vow I will never forget. The mid-evening sun continued to beat down as I surveyed the now deserted Great Wall of China. This admittedly unlikely scenario-I was at Badaling after all-was only made possible by the ceaseless determination of our tour guide to squeeze as many extra, and expensive, excursions as possible into our already crowded itinerary. Arriving at the Great Wall, which I had dreamed of visiting for as long as I can consciously remember, a mere forty-five minutes before it closed was definitely not part of my plans. Obviously, It is in Beijing. The Old Summer Palace was built in Ming dynasty and it was being expanded until Qing dynasty. The summer palace is really beautiful, like a private village built on a huge lake. One of the emperor of Qing dynasty like the scenery and the buildings in Jiang Su province very much, therefore he hired the 'engineers' from Jiang Su and everything in Summer Palace is very Jiang Su style.
