The island of Pag is the fifth biggest island in the Adriatic Sea, located in the North Dalmatia. So, where to start a tour through this unique and special place?
Like many other islands in Croatia, Pag has a very long and interesting history and it was inhabitated in pre-historical time of Neolithic. Iron Age brought Liburnians, and during the period of Ancient History it was place famous for its' Greek-Hellenistic pottery and ceramics.
Medieval brought first Croat inhibitants to Pag, and along with them came the fight between Venetians and Austro-Hungarians resulting for Pag to be bounced from one side to another. It ended in 1358 with Peace in Zadar when Pag was returned to Zadar.
Modern Age brought Napoleon and new cultural and economical revival.
All of these historical facts can make you wonder what can Pag offer you in tourist way?
Pag is famous for its salt panes, lace, lamb and cheese, so when you come to Croatia and say salt or cheese, first thing that someone will mention to you is Pag. Along with food goes crystal clear sea, bays and hidden beaches, fishing, friendly people, so don't hesitate to visit Pag.
You can find accommodation in 5 hotels, private apartments and 4 camps. The only thing that could be called disadvantage is the missing of 5 star hotels because demanding guests can hardly be satisfied 3 stars. Hopefully, future would bring new projects with material and content for all guests, no matter if you arrive with your private plane or with your back pack.
