Advantages: so compact, and very beautiful
Disadvantages: not enough time to see everything!
Paris is my favourite city. It is a very beautiful city, with a wonderful atmosphere that really lifts your spirits. There is so much to see and do there, but the wonderful thing is that it is so compact that you can easily get around on foot. I always think this is better as you can miss so much of the spirit of a city by just jumping on and off at tube stations. It is perfectly feasible to visit the Arch de Triomphe, walk down to the Eiffel Tower coming in via the Trevi fountains, visit the Tower, take a boat ride on the Seine, and then walk through the gardens and past the Louvre to Notre Dame. We have managed to fit all that into a day, though obviously longer is better! Sacre Couer is a very special place, and one of my favourites part of Paris. It has an especially nice atmosphere at dusk, when the light strikes it beautifully. At the bottom there are lots of good shops to wander round, and at the top besides Sacra Couer itself, there is a wonderful little art market with a lovely atmosphere. The view of Paris is well worth it too. Just writing about it is making me long to go back!
