16 years on and still no different! (Pontin's)

Disadvantages: filthy and run-down

Our family visited Pontins at Prestatyn in 1992 and it was a really dirty run-down site then, and it seems it still is!
On arriving, we actually drove past the entrance twice as I could not believe that this was Pontins!
After queuing for a long time to receive keys to chalet, we nervously went to find our 'holiday home'.
The chalets were run-down concrete blocks which did not look at all appealing from the outside, and I am sorry to say things were no better inside. The chalet was dirty, windows rotten and dirty with broken catches. The carpet and sofa badly stained. The beds were wooden and rotten - we ended up sleeping on the mattress on the floor!
The bathroom had a horrible blue bath which was dirty and cracked. The tiles cracked and toilet stained.
In the kitchen the cutlery etc was all dirty, the table and chairs consisted of a formica table and 2 plastic moulded chairs .
You could not see out of the windows for the dirt. I spotted a lot of people buying cleaning materials in the shop - which was well stocked with cleaning products! - and cleaning the chalets. I mean you go on holiday to relax not to clean !!
Add to this the poor entertainment and extortinate food and drink prices ( I can recall paying £4.95 for two halves of lager and 2 small lemonades back then! ) and it really was the holiday from hell.
We just used the site as a base and got out as much as possible, but vowed never to return. I was drawn to writing this review after reading reviews 16 years on that it is still dirty and run down! I saw one reviewer post photos of the bathroom which looked exactly as how i remember it 16 years ago! How can these places remain open? Do people keep going back each year?
I would never ever return - Hoseasons is much better.
It's a shame I have to give this place at least one star on my review as it does not deserve any!
