Advantages: Pretty, quiet typical majorcan town with working harbour

Disadvantages: not ideal for those wanting a commercialised resort

The resort of Porto Colom is in the Felanitx area of Majorca/ Mallorca. The resort is approx 60 km or so and to be honest - its not a very good road to travel - and the transfer could take anything up to 2 hours.

Porto Colom is the resort best preserved . There is a buriel site here called Naveta - and its this reason that the resort has been kept most like its historical state than the other resorts on the island that have been modernised.

It also still remains a fishing village and is not fully tourist commercialised.

The main feature of the little town is the large natural harbour - and its lovely to walk around and see the fishing boats. Around the harbour are a few shops, restaurants and cafe bars. There is also a decent sized supermarket - Ca's Corso' which stock holiday essentials and other little nicks and nacks too. It does offer a selection of beers, wines and spirits but they can get rather pricy as the only other shop in the resort is owned by the same people - therefore obviously there is no competition to keep prices low.

The resort is great for those that do not want commercialised places...there are no waterparks or karoke pubs and clubs.

Its a quiet little town with a typical spanish feel to it - very pretty and perfect for tourists wanting to experience the Majorcan culture and beauty at its best.

There is a small sandy beach - but the resort is mainly focused around the harbour.

The hotels in this area are usually between 3 - 4 star ratings.

Every Sunday morning there is a market on in the town, offering fresh fruit, veg and souveniers also - dont forget to haggle with the traders for the best prices.

There is also public transport that runs daily through the town, and for just a few euros you can explore the other resorts nearby also.

Summary: A pretty & quiet resort, perfect for a relaxing holiday!
