Today, Poznan is the most important city after Warsaw, from an economic, cultural and historical point of view. The area around Poznan, Wielkopolska (Greater Poland) is known as the heart of the Polish state. I suppose most visitors would come to Poznan for the huge trade fairs and the world trade centre which is located in the grounds of the Poznan International Fair. Yesterday my husband I decided to have a day out from the capital and go to a different city in Poland. Poland has some very beautiful cities and some not so beautiful. I always believed that Poznan was a little dull and uninspiring but in April this year I had a brief visit as my plane from the UK touched down outside Poznan and from what I saw travelling from the airport to the railway station sort of changed my view. Admittedly it was a very sunny day and everyone I met seemed to be very happy. But I did think then that Poznan wasn't that much different from Warsaw. So yesterday I went to find out.
