Praslin - the ultimate getaway (Praslin)

I was lucky enough to get married in Praslin in 2006. It is a small island approx 20 minutes by plane from Mahe.

We stayed all inclusive at the Lemuria resort. The island is easy to get around and has some beautiful beaches. It is the perfect getaway and extremely romantic. There are some fantastic restaurants and wonderful art shops. The casino, although small is a great place to lose money whilst having fun!!!

On the negative side though, I found the place extremely expensive and nightlife lacking. We are not ones for clubbing but there were no real bars and restaurants were not open until late.

The currency is confusing as Seychelles Ruppees are used in most shops but a lot of hotels will only accept sterling, Euros or US Dollars. Working in different currencies can be very confusing. The local currency can only be changed back if you have a bank receipt for the original exchange. That said though, there are plenty of opportunities for black market transactions which are good value if you will spend local currency.

Lemuria resort is only really accessible by taxi. Taxi journeys are expensive as is car hire.

My recommendation is to definately go if you get the opportunity but be prepared to relax completely as there is a danger of boredom if not prepared and take plenty of money!!!

If you are planning on a wedding here, I can highly recommend it. The surroundings are truly breathtaking and the package offered by Lemuria is good value for money and covers everything you could want.

Summary: Definately worth a trip
