The pictures I had seen of Rocamadour were impressive enough to make me want to find time to visit it whilst in the Dordogne this past summer plus the fact that my parents had sung its praises after visiting it the previous year. Perched on the rock face of the cliffs on one side of the River Alzou deep in the heart of the Dordogne region it was about a one hour drive from our base just outside of Sarlat. It really is an impressive sight and a lovely place to spend an afternoon which stretches into the early evening.
