Advantages: Plenty to do

Disadvantages: miserable in riainy weather

Scarborough is a great place for vacation as long as you are luck enough to get the good weather when you are there, otherwise it can be make for a very dismal holiday.
It is situated on the North Yorkshire coast and is near to Bridlington and Whitby which both can be reached by bus if you feel like a day out somewhere else.
The shopping centre is very good and has a wide range of shops to choose from. The indoor Brunswick market is good to walk round if it is raining and there are plenty of stalls to browse.
The beach is very nice and clean and children are qute safe to play there.
There are a variety of attractions including Peasholm Park which has motor boats and pedalos on its lake.
A Sea Life centre is at the North Bay and a miniature railways runs to it.
There is a variety of amusement arcades as well and also Atlantis- an outdoor swimming pool with flumes.

Summary: A nice place for a vacation if the weather is right
