Advantages: Friendly people, nightlife and beaches
Disadvantages: Slight litter problem, dodgy toilets
Sidari is a lovely place, we have just returned from a two week holiday there and had a great time.
First of all I would like to address the (few) bad points about Sidari in general. The worst thing about Sidari is that there is a slight litter problem but nothing worse than a few plastic bags lying about and the odd bit of fly tipping. The sea is NOT full of sewage or rubbish its lovely and clear blue and usually quite warm as well. The second is that, as in all of Greece, you cannot put toilet paper down the toilets as the drains simply cannot cope. There is usually a bin with a lid at the side of the toilet which is used for the toilet paper. This is a little off-putting at first but you soon get used to it (and also I have to admit a couple of times I "forgot" and the drains/toilets never blocked!)
Now to the many many good things about Sidari. The people are lovely, they cannot do enough for you. There are many different bars all specialising in varied menus from traditional Greek food such as Stifado which is like the best beef stew you ever had, to mainstream stuff like pizza and chips and burgers etc. There are a wide range of alcoholic drinks available such as Strongbow and John Smiths (which are imported) - a note of caution - never accept anything that you can get in a bottle on draught as these are usually poor copies of the original (I had "Strongbow" which tasted like paint stripper!). You can also get all the traditional Greek beverages such as Ouzo.
The beaches are lovely usually quite narrow but long and with plenty of room for sunbeds and there are many beach bars with music and food served all day, I would recommend Sea Monkeys which is in the Canal D'Amour area - really friendly British owners and free sunbeds!
All in all I would recommend you go to Sidari, there are nightclubs for the night owls and ordinary bars which close at about 1pm for the slightly older holidaymaker. There are also a few really nice Chinese restaurants.
There are several shops offering excursions at really reasonable prices so its advisable to use these rather than book them through your travel agent.
There is a water park in Sidari I cannot review that as we did not visit but it was recommended by a few people.
Summary: Highly recommend
