Sitges has lots of winding streets and bars and restaurants that seem to pop up out of nowhere. We had a beautiful Mexican meal, while overlooking the beach and then did a bit of a pub crawl. The pubs vary from stunning and sophisticated to tacky and to downright dingy but most pubs are sleek. The beaches is Sitges are beautiful and were packed everyday when we were there. Sitges is a coastal city situated 35 kilometres from Barcelona. You can get the train from Barcelona Sants and it takes about 30 minutes (Euro2.60 for a single).I first visited Sitges last September after spending a few days in Barcelona. It is famous for the Gay Carnival every February. The 2009 carnival is due to take place from the 15th - 22nd February 2009. http://www.gaysitgesguide.com/events/sitges-carnival-gay.html We stayed at the Port Sitges apart hotel.
