The actual resort of Puerto de Soller is an almost perfect horse shoe bay Approx 3km inland is the actual town of Soller - and the main road that links the town and resort area - is shared with coaches and trams. The tramway is the only working tram on the island and is known as the 'ORANGE EXPRESS'. It got its name because the route from the old town to the harbour went through orange groves. The main town is very small with hardly any facilties - so it really isnt ideal for anyone taking children to this resort. The town of Soller in actually deep in the mountain range of Sierra De Tramuntana - which is approx 1445m above sea levels (the highest mountain in Majorca / Mallorca). The resort stretches out over a 44km area - and reaches the west coast of the island too. Its approx 35k from the airport - it used to take a few hours to get to the resort after driving around winding little roads to get around the mountain that isolates the resort - however since the motorway & 'Tunel de Soller' opened - its cut the tranfers time to approx 45 mins.
