cezzybunny Borneo (Kalimantan)
... spent about 4 months in Borneo a few years ago. First of all, I ll explain that Borneo is the name of the island, but there are three countries which have part of this territory - Malaysia, Indonesia, and Brunei Darussalam. The main part of the island is taken up by Kalimantan, the Indonesian part. The Malaysian part is divided into two parts - Sabah (British North Borneo) and Sarawak. Most of my time was spent in Sabah, but I also visited Brunei and Sarawak. Sabah is a stunning part of the world, the capital, Kota Kinabalu, isn t the most exciting place ever but it is a good stepping stone to more exciting trips. Those who are interested in orangtans can head to Sepi...

... arrived in Pakse at 6.30 and caught the first bus with destination Salavan. Just ask a TukTuk driver to bring you to the right bus station - they show you where the bus leaves. The bus to Salavan is a local bus (no aircon and fully packed). Tell the bus driver in advance that you want to get out at Tadlo - he ll tell you which stop it is. The price was 25000kip - by the time of travelling (2008) 2 Pound. After 1 1/2 hours on a bumpy, dusty road we reached Tadlo. It doesn t look really exciting at the beginning but as soon as we tuck the only TukTuk in the whole town and reached the waterfall where all the Guesthouses are we fell in love with it. You can find rooms wit...

... Chang is a much quiter island than the more famous ones you here about. This makes it a blissful and friendly place compared to the party islands . The best places to stay are along the beachside and are generally huts with a net over the bed and an outside toilet/shower. Its located to the south west of Bangkok and almost in Cambodia. You get a really nice bus from near Khao San Road and takes 5-6 hours. You then board a ferry which is only about a 20 min trip. On the other side, when you dock, you are forced to use a taxi to take you to the beachside of the island where all the beach houses are. This is the most expensive part of the island as the taxi driv...
