Toronto (Canada) Destination International

Newest Review: ... City and really enjoyed the nice atmosphere it had to offer. Shoppers will love Toronto with shops to suit all tastes and a vast range of different stores. The Eaton Centre is well worth a visit. I guess it's like being in New York, except it was cleaner, safer and less crowded. There are some very nice squares (Yonge-Dundas Square was my favourite) in the City where you can sit outside and enjoy the sounds of the City watching the fountains and the several street performers putting on shows. Street dance seemed to be the most popular choice. As you would expect, restaurants are also plentiful. There seemed to be a lot of Italian eateries, ... more

I decided to visit Toronto in 2007 and it was to be my first trip into Canada, so obviously I was very excited at the prospect. Arriving at Toronto airport on a very empty Air Canada (nice planes..) from DC, I was taken into a smaller security check in to most of the other travellers while the visa I was on and my papers were checked. Got the 'A OK' and it was off to get some Canadian Dollars. You know, I never knew they had the queen on too! Anyway, I was staying at a HI Hostel on Church Street. It was a nice hostel, not the best I have stayed in though. The rooms were very crowded and being on church street, well, it is right across the road from ...  Read the complete review

Last year on my visit to Canada i was lucky enough to visit the city of Toronto; here i have made a travel guide for all those who visit, but dont have long in the city, and therefore, want to make the absolute most out of its splendour! History and Culture: Toronto is well-known across the world for being "the global city", and has, for many years, been extremely successful in enticing immigrants to the city. It is the worlds most diverse city, when judged by percentage of non natives, as over 49 percent of residents were not born in Canada. The reason for this success is the safety which the city offers its population; having an extremely low ...  Read the complete review

Toronto (following my last review, quite a while ago) - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Chapter 1 – Toronto (HISTORY) The first European traveller to stand on the shores of Lake Ontario, which is now the area of Toronto, was Etienne Brule, a French man and a keen explorer in the year of 1615. However, this land had been occupied, like Niagara, for at least 10 centuries. These natives that had gotten to know Toronto so well knew it best as a waterway system of routes leading to the Gulf of Mexico. This land was occupied by the native Indians until 1600, when they retreated to other regions due to these European ...  Read the complete review

We first visited Toronto in 1996, which was meant to be a one-off visit. Within a short space of time (I think it was one day!), we both fell in love with the place, and as a result our one-off treat turned into a way of life. It started off years of travelling to Canada and we returned to Toronto in 1998, 1999, 2001 and 2002, sometimes adding it on to another trip elsewhere just to go back. It is difficult to express what is so good about Toronto, because in words it can just sound dull. Safe, clean, customer orientated - so what? Toronto is probably like a lot of cities, such as Sydney, New York etc that a person immediately feels at home in or sometimes ...  Read the complete review

I was very lucky to stay with a Canadian family the first time I visited Toronto and got to see the 'other side' of Toronro as well as the tourist stuff and I loved every minute of it. It's a very clean and friendly city, even the beggers are clean and friendly! (I was approached by one on my first day and although I didn't have any change for him he still spoke to me and asked me every day if I was enjoying my holiday!) It's a very safe city too, I was 19 the first time I went and within days was wandering around downtown alone like it was home! The metro is the easiest way to get around (after walking!) There are two lines ...  Read the complete review
