Newest Review: ... day trippers on organised tours and although that's something I don't really care for myself, seeing Trogir with a guide isn't a bad idea because there is so much to see and so much to learn. If you are travelling independently there are plenty of tour companies in Split and other resorts that offer trips to Trogir, or you can hook up with a walking tour once you get to Trogir. One of the frustrating things about holidaying in Croatia is the very rigid ferry timetabling system that sees crossings to and from the islands seriously curtailed from the beginning of September. From September there are few crossings suitable for tourists wishing to make day trips to the islands closest to Split, with crossings concentrating on serving commuters rather than tourists. This year we'd hoped to see an island we hadn't already been to but there were no crossings that would enable us to make a worthwhile day trip so we decided to take a bus trip instead. Trogir - where is it, you may well ask? This small port and town is situated in Central Dalmatia which is in Croatia and about 30 kilometres from Split where there is an International airport. The town is well located as it is on the famous Adriatic Highway which links this part of Croatia to the rest of Europe. The reason I came across this beautiful spot is because we were driving from Zagreb to Split and thought I would stop overnight and see what the town had to offer.
