Advantages: Great scuba diving!!

Disadvantages: You'll not want to leave!

Utila is the smaller of the two renowned scuba diving islands off the coast of Honduras - it's smaller which means it is slightly less commercialised. However, if good nightlife and an island geared up for tourism is still what you are looking for, you won't be disappointed. Good accommodation - traditional Honduran food as well as the odd pizza and spaghetti. Bars galore, places to dance, internet cafes and of course, hoards of scuba diving schools.

Utila's most renowned scuba diving school that I went with and can highly recommend was Captain Morgan. Really good deals, great instructors. They are based, i.e. they teach you on a small island off Utila - basically, by doing so, they pay for your accommodation too!! Always handy!!!

Utila's diving is just stunning, some of the best scuba diving I have ever done - visibility seems to be good if not excellent all year round, it is certainly cheaper to scuba dive here than say Belize and if you want a place to sit back, relax, watch the sun setting over the beach with a cocktail in hand after a hard day of scuba diving, this is the place!!

Summary: Definately worth the trip!!
