My trip to China included a three night cruise down the Yangtze River from Yichang to Chongqing. This is the stretch of the river that will be flooded in the next few years by the controversial dam currently under construction just outside Yichang. There are an enormous number of companies running tourist boats, and public transport boats along the river, and it's possible to go all the way to Shanghai from Yichang (and back) along the river.
