If you go to the in the Glenmore mountain shop cafe for a cup of tea you might see red squirrels on the trees. Fancy something a bit stronger than tea? Then there is the Cairngorm brewery in the industrial estate, book a tour and a tasting session. If steam railways are your thing then there is the Strathspey railway giving you a 5 mile ride from Aviemore into the Scottish scenery. Now the reason why we have made this trek up north. Aviemore is a town in the highlands of Scotland. In the cairngorm national park. When we have visited we travel there by car, but there is a train station and express busses go there too .The airport at Inverness is only 25 miles away. Well now you are there you will need somewhere to stay. We camped in this area several times. There are a few campsites near Aviemore and one in the town I seem to remember. Some of these sites have spaces for caravans too. There is a bunkhouse for back packers, this bunkhouse is self-catering and has family rooms as well as ensuite rooms that sleep 8 people.
