Advantages: Excellent car parking and clearly signed

Disadvantages: If you are expecting what one might term 'ordinary' shops such as BHS then you might be dissapointed

The Peak District is one my all time favourite parts of England. The small town of Bakewell is at the heart of it and has much to offer.

Firstly, as is important for visitors, it offers a great deal of car parking space. The car parks are very close to the main shopping area too.

There are a wide variety of shops on offer in addition to the 10 or so which boast they are the 'original' Bakewell Pudding company. If you are expecting what one might term 'ordinary' shops such as BHS, Debenhams and WHSmith, then you might be dissapointed. It isn't really that kind of town.

In the end, it is a tourist kind of place, and therefore the shops and amenities reflect this. There are a good number of bookshops and plentiful gift shops, in addition to those selling outdoor clothing and discount china. A real mixed 'bag'!

For anyone visiting the Peak District, then a trip to Bakewell is a must.

Summary: For anyone visiting the Peak District, then a trip to Bakewell is a must.
