Banbury has really improved for shopping in the past year or two. They have demolished a lot of the town centre an built a new massive shopping mall and made the town traffic free and altered the multi story car park for more parking. Most of the supermarkets are out of town but in the last year Tescos and Morrisons have come to Banbury. The New Malls are certainly worth a visit. They have too numerous shops to mention but they do have all the main larger ones. If you want to buy meat though forget the new shops and the supermarkets and go along to Church Walk. The Butcher there has such a massive turnover that he sells his meat very very cheap and it is all the very best quality. His prices and quality beat all the supermarkets. I go the 40 miles just to stock up the freezer from this cheap good butcher, mind you my Mum in law lives here too though. While in Banbury dont forget the famous Banbury cakes and no I dont know the ingredients as they are secret. These are the real Banbury cakes I am talking about, done in the old fashioned way still and so very very delicious. In the summer this town is really beautiful as it enters and usually gets placed somewhere, in the Britain in Bloom Town competition. Have a special look at the cock horses made and decorated with flowers, they are of course around the Cross the one we all know from our nursery rhyme days - Ride a Cock Horse to Banbury Cross. Lady Godiva is not there though.
