Advantages: Lots to do, Not as expensive as folk say, piceless entertainment.
Disadvantages: Don't live near enough.
Blackpool, everyone has an opinion, almost everyone has been, some love it some hate it so whats the story.
Arriving in the town and parking in one of the many parking areas the first thing that will strike you is the massive Tower, the trade mark of the town and the identity of the place, it sits like a king watching its loyal subjects.
Immediately you will be immersed in the hussle and bussle, the streets never empty, its a true twentyfour hour town, from the street vendors selling or the takeaway caravans to the famous fortune tellers and the small trinket shops on central drive. Hotels, Guesthouses and flats are plentyful and cheap and you'l get a good deal to suit any budget
The sights, the sound of horse and carriage and the constant background hum from the many promenade arcades adds to the experience.
The three piers stretch out towards the sparkling Irish sea and add to the ambiance when looking out towards the water at sunset on a cloudless sky.
Deciding what to do first can be difficult, on a nice day head for Stanley Park and wander through the woodland setting, see the many squirels, head to the boating lake for a relaxing trip round the water, its a glorious setting. or have a day at the world famous Pleasure Beach, Stroll round a pier, they are all different and have a character of their own, relax on the quiet north, entertain the kids on the central or get the heart rate up on the adrenalin fuelled south. A day in the tower is the making of a special memory too.
After dark especially during the illuminations you will be blown away by the light show which is on a massive scale and should impress everyone.
There are many night clubs, pubs, pubs on a theme, curiousity pubs, restaurants, diners, fish and chip shops and cafes most of which are reasonable with good food and service, the Stevonia on central drive is my pick of the fish and chip shops but there is a huge choice.
Blackpool is like 5 places in one, there is the stag and hen place, the cheap tacky place that anti blackpool people talk about, the quiet expensive north side, the busy central/south side and the family place where you spend your holiday travelling everyhere by tram or walking along the prom at dusk on your way back from a fun day visiting places like the wax works, sealife centre or sandcastle swiming pool and the attractions mentioned above.
Its bigger than you imagine, there's more to do than you can, its a wonderful place but which version will you find.........................which ever one you're looking for.
Summary: Blackpool, you will have a great time.

The town where I spent my first night of rough sleeping.
I wasn't homeless, I was drunk and all guesthouses look the same at 4am. |
