Advantages: Great museum and park!

Disadvantages: Not loads more after that

I am going to talk about the two best features that Bletchley has to offer, this is of course just from my limited experience, and I am sure the locals have more to say on the mater.

BLETCHLEY PARK

If anyone has heard the name Bletchley before it was probably associated with Bletchley Park. In case you haven't heard of either I will explain a little about the star attraction in this town.

Bletchley Park is now a museum but during World War two, it was the headquarters of England's top code breakers, who are credited for shortening the War with their effort. Now for 10 pounds you can visit this historic site, and learn about how these people fought every day, in a way the men on the front couldn't. The many thousands of people involved kept silent about their efforts until 1970 when the real use of the building and their tasks were revealed. It is a nice place for a school trip, or anyone interested in code breaking and deciphering.

BLUE LAGOON

Bletchley also has a second "park" the only nature reserve in Milton Keynes, called the Blue Lagoon, named after the pure blue color of one of the two water pits there. There is an extensive amount of flora and fauna, in the park, but don't expect deer, its more like birds and butterflies that you will see here. But it is great for anyone interested in a getting a bit of fresh air in his or her lungs. There are also plenty of different types of fish, and fishermen frequent the shore, so if you are an angler then this is a great place to hobnob with fellow enthusiasts.

A lot of schools take their classes for field trips there and it's a great place to learn more about the local wildlife. Another really great feature is that if you are interested in diving, but cant afford to explore the Caribbean reefs, then the "Blue Lagoon" has got you sorted. The local diving club "Milton Keynes Sub-Aqua Club" has submerged a bus, two cars and a light aircraft, that adds to the other sunken boats to explore! So if you fancy exploring a few vehicles in this exceptionally clear lake then give them a shout! http://www.mksac.co.uk/

The town itself is not that great for shopping, if you are used to the Milton Keynes mall and the variety to be found there, but there are a few charity shops with little gems to be found inside!

Summary: A nice place to go for a picnic and educational trip.
