My review today is about a quintessential English town in Cumbria. Not as exotic as some of the towns I have reviewed I know but to me it has a special place in my travel diairies. It is an alternative Cumbrian experience, far from the maddening crowd of Lake Windermere and commercialism. I have always been enchanted with the town's cobbled streets and winding lanes which lead to quaint, little shops and old pubs and coaching inns dating from the 18th and19 th century, some even older.
