Advantages: Fun
Disadvantages: low wages due to number of job seekers
Brighton has a great range of fun activities for all ages. For children - The pier with its amusements and fun rides For sailors - the marina with its restaurants and bars (although not many) For clubbers - an enormous range for every age and taste. The Zap is a favourite for techno although the bouncers have bad attitude sometimes (although this ensures virtually no trouble while in there). The Event2 is good for students and plays a range of current club house and tunes. Other clubs and bars too many to list but a few advertise on national listings. For culture buffs - there are a range of theatrical / opera / ballet events on at the Dome, and Glyndebourne is half an hours drive away - but book well in advance. Accommodation costs a bit on the pricy side with rents overinflated due to having two universities in close proximity. Still, cheaper than London. Places to live - Town centre - a bit noisy but lively Kemptown - between the town centre and the marina, a few pubs and some good sized flats available Preston Park / five ways - a bit of a stroll if you are walking home after a night out. Seven dials area - again fairly close to centre but has parking problems. Hove (actually) - a bit posh and more expensive than it really should be. Probably quite nice if you are middle aged, does have some reasonable pubs and the cricket ground. Places not to live (unless you have to) Moolscombe and Whitehawk. Benefits cheap accommodation. Disbenefits - have reputation of being rough, with a higher than avarage incidence of crime, and a long walk home if you have spent your taxi money on leisure persuits.
