      Advantages

      Disadvantages

First of all make sure you visit Carlow during the week coz it is VERY quiet on the weekends! How do I get there? Well there's plenty of ways to get to carlow (train, bus). If your travelling from Dublin Airport you can get a bus from the Airport to Carlow it takes roughly 1h 30 to 3hrs depending on the route although it's really only 50 miles down from Tallaght (South Dublin). The cost of the Bus starts at € 8 and thats return! It's a fairly small town and when I say small I mean like the type of small where everyone seems to know everyone, you know those type of places! Going Out! nights out in Carlow are basically bombarded with students, me being a student myself I can't complain about this. I just thought I'd warn the non students the IT Carlow kids can be fairly hyper on a thurday night! Where to go? The best nightclub in Carlow is The Foundry, brilliant nights, good prices! Another option is Scraggs Alley mainly over taken again with students in the lunch hours, scraggs is a great night out and always have brilliant promotions. If you want a quiet night out...erm try staying in! If your not into drinking theres also a bowling alley and a cinema, they both offer student discounts. Shopping? Yes, there are shops here although I'm a complete shop-a-holick and I wouldn't recommend Carlow for shopping although it has enough shops such as No Name, Japan, Vero Moda etc and Golden Discs record shop so your not completly stuck! Anything Else? Well if your interested Kilkenny is only 30 mins away and Waterford roughly 1h30, Waterford is lovely for shopping! Places to stay? Depending on budget etc I'd recommend two places: for people/students on a budget go to the Otterholt Hostel starts at €8 p.p or if you want a bit of comfort go to the sevenoaks Hotel is 5 min walk to town and rates again start
from €80 for a single room or €130. Please not that all prices used in this opinion are taken from official sites however prices may change so please double check before making your journey! C Ya in Carlow! Kate
