Center Parcs (England)
Advantages: Beautiful, scenic, loads to do.
I am fortunate enough to live around 20 minutes away from the Center Parcs I have visited around 3 or 4 times, Sherwood Forest in Nottinghamshire.
I will section this review out into all of the different parts I have experienced.
You can hire a bog standard chalet or go for a full blown luxury chalet complete with jacuzzi or anything in between, I've experienced both of these extremes and have to say, no matter where you're staying all of the rooms have fantastic hygiene standards and are extremely well kept!
The Sports Cafe-
Food, soft drinks, hot drinks, alcoholic drinks, arcade, and of course sports such as tennis, badminton, pool etc.
This is where my friends, family and I mainly socialise whilst at Center Parcs, it has quite an upper class feel, as though you are in a posh hotel or golf club and although it can be quite pricey (Like all of the food at Center Parcs!) it is probably the nicest place to be.
Huge swimming pool, a number of slides, an outdoor rapids (FANTASTIC, anyone 7 and over should have a go on the rapids) which is suitable even in winter as the outdoor pool is heated.
Lifeguards are vigilant (there was actually a story of some lifeguards at this specific Center Parcs around 1-2 years ago who managed to save a child's life) the pools are clean, showers are well maintained and there is a burger bar by the pool so family not swimming, or hungry kids mid-swim can grab a drink or bite to eat.
A wide choice, lovely staff, really tasty food, think Frankie and Benny's for the American style restaurants (the actual name escapes me), an indian, an italian and a number of other restaurants, the same applies for all, tasty food and attentive staff, good hygiene levels, good for children.
Bike riding, swimming, bowling, tennis, basically you name it, centerparcs do it.
There is a spa, which my mother frequents whenever we attend Center Parcs which offers a number of therapies and treatments.
The Leisure Bowl-
Where the other half of night time activity happens, kids disco and adult disco, fun to listen to the latest chart music whilst having a few drinks, also bowling to keep the kids entertained with obviously the kids disco with children's activities and fun and games.
The place itself is lovely and clean, plenty of rubbish bins about to dispose of litter so no one has any excuse really.
Only gripe is everything is extremely expensive, especially food-wise, so make sure you save up plenty of spending money.
Other than that Center Parcs can be magic! Especially at Christmas time, I was lucky enough to go there last Christmas on Christmas eve.
Unfortunately I was a miserable so and so at the time, do to unrelated circumstances and did not get as much out of the place as I usually do, and have done in the past.
Recommended for all families and groups of friends, even though its a holiday in the UK you really feel like you've gone away somewhere, even for me who lives 20 minutes away!
You must have at least one member of the party staying at Center Parcs to be over 21.
Summary: Good for people of all ages.
