Advantages: New City, well laid out, good roads.

Disadvantages: Some bad areas, expensive to live.

Home of the Coventry City Football, club is the new Ricoh Arena, and at one time, this city was one of the great manufacturing centres of the world. The city was home to more bicycle companies than you could ever imagine.
There were more Car and motorbike companies then you knew existed. The city also was home to a third of a million people (as of the last census).

Coventry is twinned with Stalingrad, or we should now call it Volgograd. In fact Coventry was the very first City to be "twinned". Due to the fact that this city was "Coventrated" during the second World War, it is also twinned with Dresden, as well as some 27 other places. The destruction innthe war was terrible, and apart from the odd pockets, you will see very little in the way of building older than WW11 origin.

The City is an old one, 1043 actually, and was home to Leofric, who nobody remembers, but you all know his Missus - Lady Godiva! Apparently the name came from a man called "Cofa" who held meetings near a tree, hence the original name Cofastree. The saying "Send them to Coventry" Was coined by Royalist prisonners during the Civil War because although they were looked after, nobody was allowed to actually speak to them.

There are two Universities here, and some very nice landmarks, like the ruins of the old Cathedral, which although having no roof, is still used for special ceremonies, and is attached to the brand new Cathedral, being one of the newest in the world.

There are good Motorway links, and a very good transport Museum, I will be doing a review on this later. The War Memorial Park is also a place to visit, especially when there is an event on like the Godiva Festival. Talking of vehicles, the scenes in the original Italian Job, were filmed in Coventy's sewers, biggest in the world at the time, and the intention was to have one of the Minis do a loop the loop, however, after nine failed attempts, the idea was scrapped.

The City is multi-cultural, and has it's good areas as well as bad ones. It is from here the the famous jet engine inventor Frank Whittle originated, also the poet Philip Larkin, actor Nigel Hawthorne, and also Mo Molem spent her childhood here.

The City incinerates much of it's rubbish, producing electricity for the National Grid, this also has some waste hot water, which is piped for local use.

There you have Coventry in a nutshell, I actually like the place, but that is purely my opinion.

Summary: A nice place to visit.

my father's family comes from here, last time we visited though we went through the park and my nan was going, someone was actually stabbed over there, yeah this has happened etc. I live in a small village where the biggest crime is kids stealing from our corner shop, quite a shock :D Great review though.
