Advantages: a good historic place
Disadvantages: a bit boring if you live there
Crewe is in Cheshire which is located in the North west of England. Crewe is properly famous for our large railway junction and also being the home of the Rolls Royce motor cars (this has now been taken over by Bentley)
Crewe has a large town and has many shops. Some include, Boots, Marks and Spencers, Zavvi, New look, BHS plus many more. I think the main town has far too many second hand shops and phone shops. Crewe also has a grand junction retail park which has more shops like Next, Pets at home and Aldi.
Crewe has a park called Queens park which is a beautiful place full of trees and lovely landscapes. The park is full of wildlife and has a good play area for little ones. The park is currently under construction as they have had a lottery grant for 5 million so they are doing their best to improve the park by making a new play ground and planting more trees. The park is great on bonfire night as they have a huge party and with a small entrance fee (usually about £5) you can see £1000's of fireworks which are usually great. We had a carnival in the summer and Jason Donavon was actually there playing a set. As you can imagine. I did not attend hehe.
Crewe has a great public baths which is opened daily and costs £3.20 for unlimited use that day and also has a gym. This baths has been here for years and is a very historical building.
Crewe is also famous for their football team Crewe Alexandria. Crewe are currently in the 1st division. Dario Gradi the manager is actually the longest serving manager of all time at one particular club which I find great. Great footballers have started at Crewe Alexandra some being David Platt and Robbie Savage both that have actually played for England. The Crewe Alexandra ground is great but is now very expensive to watch them play.
Crewe War Memorial is now outside the municipal buildings where it was moved in 2006 after a local political crisis. It is one of only two war memorials in Britain which features Britannia. There was a big fuss about getting it moved as it had been there for years but the council thought it would be better placed outside a historical place rather than McDonalds and New look which I agreed. It now looks so nice.
Crewe also has the lyceum theatre which is historical and has been renovated and attracts many famous acts and plays. The Christmas pantomime is a big hit in Crewe with many famous actors involved. Also Crewe has a live music venue called the Limelight which is great. Most of the time they show tribute acts but some originals bands play there. The "M" club is also another live venue.
I have lived in Crewe all my life and find it a great place to live. I do find it boring at times but I know some people say I am lucky as Crewe has many attractions and they find it far from boring.
Summary: lots to do
