Advantages: Lots to do in the daytime
Disadvantages: Drinks expensive
I have just returned from a weekend break in Dublin and have to say it was thoroughly enjoyable. The people were friendly, there was lot's to see and do and I had great fun.
I liked the fact that Dublin is small enough to get everything done in a weekend.
I would recommend the cream and green buses. The day hopper ticket was only 7 Irish pounds and it took you to all the sights. You can get on and off as many times as you like.
We made our first stop at the Guiness Storehouse (a must) and although I didn't like the black stuff it is a very interesting place. We also visited St Patricks Cathedral and the Castle for some culture. Another good attraction is the Irish Music hall of Fame. They had so many cool things in there such as the actual outfits worn by bands such as the Corrs and hand written lyrics from U2 and Boyzone. It is well worth a visit.
Food was fab. There are loads of places to choose from and for a City it's not badly priced. We found a great place called The Bad Ass Cafe in Temple Bar where Sinead O'Connor used to work! The food was lovely.
In general drink was expensive. The pubs were also quite hard to get into as they were so packed. Once you got in it was a battle to get served.
So if you fancy getting away but don't want to go too far Dublin is the place for you. You'll never get bored!!
