Advantages: a lot to see

Disadvantages: its cold in the winter

Edinburgh is the capital city of Scotland. What makes it different to London, which is the capital city of England is the fact that it is not so busy and people have time for each other. People do not rush past you. I visited Edinburgh last January. It was a beautiful place for a short four day visit. I spent three days in Edinburgh itself and on the remaining day, I took a day tour to Loch Lomond.

Edinburgh is not a very big city, however it has many attractions and sights to see. My trip began on Princes street, which is the main shopping area. What makes it different to Oxford street in London is that on one side of the road you have all the main high street shops, and on the opposite side you have Edinburgh castle which is situated on top of a hill. It is a very different type of shopping atmosphere, you are shopping in a place which has both shops and scenery, this is very beautiful. There are also small shopping malls around Princes street.

Being a small city, most of the attractions in Edinburgh are not very far apart. There are a variety of museums, art galleries, there is Holyrod House, which is the Queens place of residence, when she is in Scotland. There is also Holyrod park which is an ideal place if you want to go hill climbing. The view from the top of the hills is beautiful.
I have visited the city in the middle of winter and found it a wonderful experience, summer will probably be as wonderful but in a different way.

Loch Lomond, is a Loch which is just on the edge of the highlands. It is a very beautiful place. In the background you can see the tops of mountains with their peaks covered in snow.

My advise is that, if you want to watch movies, go to clubs and party, then DON'T go to Edinburgh. However, if you want to see sites and attractions and some beautiful scenery, then definately take a trip out there.
