Advantages: has all the basics and a great location

Disadvantages: full of students

a sleepy little village in surrey right next to outskirts of London. Egham is dominated with students from Royal Holloway. There are a few stunning buildings, including the university itself witch has a grade a listed building called founders as well as a couple of nice churches in town. Down the road is the stunning national park virginia water and windsor national park. There is also easy access to the M3 and M25 and a 30min train takes you straight into london central.

So the location is pretty good with easy access to the city and stunning countryside. In terms of the high street in egham though there is little on offer. There are a couple of quaint independent shops selling odd bits and bobs. There is a post office, budgens and hardware store. Most of the shops are estate agents competeing to house the students. The main supermarket is Tesco which although small offers a huge variety of food. If you need to shop the best place to go is Staines which is 20mins down the road and offers a huge Safeways, a shopping center and large high street.

Egham offers nothing in terms of entertainment. For the cinema you have to head into Stains and for bowling, ice skating, etc you have to head to feltham which is a 30min drive away.

Egham offers a huge range off pubs. The ones near the top of the hill are very studenty but there are some nice ones near the town centre, the one i would recomend is The Crown which has a nice garden for those summer days.

There are a few restraunts and not surprisingly lots of takeaways. The best places to eat is Bar 69 which although on the outside looks dingy, offers tasty food. Most of the pubs also serve food.

Egham has all the basic essentials, its location is its greatest asset. There are also a few quirks, surrounded by stunning countryside, hosting grade a listed buildings and...if you can afford it....theres even a large Ferrari garage!!!

Summary: a small town with all the essentials. Full of students but a great location
