Most of the half decent shops that Gainsborough used to have seem to have disappeared and been replaced by charity shops. The entrance into the town has been revamped and looks far better than it used to now that a lot of the derelict buildings have been pulled down. As I remember there really isn't much to do in Gainsborough. There is the leisure centre, which has a swimming pool and not much else. There is the Trinity Arts Centre,which doubles as theatre/cinema. Thats about it really. I moved away from Gainsborough over seven years ago but my mum still lives there, so I do go back for occasional visits. I notice more of what is going on in this little town now that I don't live there. Gainsborough has a thriving online community at http://communities.msn.co.uk/GainsboroughCommunityOnline where I regularly catch up on the town news. The market seems to be a lot smaller than I remember with no where near as many stalls as there used to be. I've lived near Gainsborough for 15 months now and I am only just beginning to like the place- but don't think it is a dump because it isn't! The town has got problems on first inspection- there are old mills that are derelict and the job centre is one of the newest buildings, but they are doing a heck of a lot to make the town a pleasant one to visit. First of all there's parking- two hours cost only 40p and in a lot of car parks parking is free after 12pm on a Saturday!
