Advantages: pleasant town, pleasant people

Disadvantages: Takes time to get used to

I've lived near Gainsborough for 15 months now and I am only just beginning to like the place- but don't think it is a dump because it isn't!

The town has got problems on first inspection- there are old mills that are derelict and the job centre is one of the newest buildings, but they are doing a heck of a lot to make the town a pleasant one to visit.

First of all there's parking- two hours cost only 40p and in a lot of car parks parking is free after 12pm on a Saturday!

There is a thriving market on Tuesdays and Saturdays in the main square and a farmer's market on the secon Tuesday of the month in Lord Street.

The Old nick theatre and Trinity Arts Centre serve the discerning cultural types.

The riverside is being developed into a pleasant walk so that people will actually enjoy being there even more!

The major attraction in Gainsborough is the historic Old Hall- it is an amazing building that just has to be seen to be believed- it is truly spectacular and is run by English Heritage.

This may appear a little sparse- but it takes time to appreciate just what Gainsborough has to offer- it is a town which is fighting to build itself up again- and I think it deserves a heck of a lot of support.
