Gorleston is where I live and I would like to tell you all about where it is and what we have in the area as when i mention Gorleston to some of my online friends they haven't heard of it or have a clue where it is in the UK.

Gorleston is apart of the Great Yarmouth Borough and is situated on the East coast of Norfolk, Uk. Gorleston is 4 miles South of Great Yarmouth. Gorleston has the best of both worlds being close to Noisy Great Yarmouth (Summer Months) and the Quiet countryside surrounding the area, Great Beaches. I have been brought up in the Great Yarmouth borough all my life and prefer living in the Gorleston part of it as its a lot quieter.

Population is approx 23,000, this is rising all the time as the population is in most of the country. New housing developments are being built in many areas of gorleston at the moment. I wish they would think about this as our schools already are full and so are doctors surgerys. If your going to build more house's build more schools, shops, doctors etc.

SHOPPING
The high street also offers a variety of shops, some a small business's and others well known companies. With the high street being quit small you really do get to know the staff in shops and you always find them very welcoming, helpful and happy to chat. There is quit a few empty shops on the high street but i think this is something that is happening throughout the uk, small business's find it really hard to keep going. Some of the local store you will find are:
Morrisons - Major supermarket for the area, located just behind the high street.
Boots - Major high street Pharmacy
Super drug - Pharmacy
Iceland - Frozen food store
New look - Clothes shop
Martins newsagents and post office - Sells Papers and also Major Post office of Gorleston.
Peacocks - Clothes
Wilkinsons - Sells many different items
KFC - Food
Clinton cards - Care shop
QD - Discount store
Music lovers - Music Store
Hughes - Electrical goods
Shake Rattle and roll - Music shop selling Guitars etc.
Plus you will find many Travel agents and Estate agents, Several Banks including Lloyds/TSB, Barclays, Nat west and Halifax.
The High Street also has many Hair and beauty shops to care for your needs.

FOOD: Well what can I say, Gorleston has many different types of restaurants to cater for all tastes, I have several favourites who we use on a regular basis as we enjoy there food and service. Here are a few of my favourite in the area.

SCHOOLS- Gorleston has a wide selection of Schools to choose from including:

Cliff Park First, middle and High
Peterhouse First and Middle
Stradbroke Primary
St marys Primary
Wroughton first and Middle
Oriel High School
Lynn Grove high school
Herman first and middle

My own children attend one of the local high schools and the standards and quality fof education they have received has been excellent. I have always felt valued as a parent and have always had any problems resolved and my children are always happy with attending school.

HOSPITAL- Gorleston is home to the Great Yarmouth Boroughs main hospital the JPH ideal in an emergency situation. I have been in the hospital approx 4 times and with my children on several occasions. Each time we have always been treated quickly an found staff very friendly. The Hospital is easy to navigate as its an easy square design to follow. Signs are everywhere and as you enter the building you can ask for directions.

What's Gorleston Famous for?
I don't think Gorleston has been famous for anything yet but we never know what the future may hold. The area is known mostly as a fishing town. A few well known people who have come from the Gorleston area are:

Hannah Spearritt who was in S CLUB 7, was brought up here.

Myleene Klass was also brought up in the town. Ex Hear'say member.

Other Useful Info:

Gorleston has a large golf course to the south of the town.
Regularly holds the Blue Flag.

The Pavilion theatre holds many shows throughout the year. http://www.gorlestonpavilion.co.uk/
Ocean rooms is the towns main nightclub for all you nighclubers out their :) Gets very busy. They do a great Sunday carvery here.

There is a few cafes located near to the beach area and these sell amazing ice creams, even though we live here we have to pop down every so often and get an ice cream :)
