Advantages: ace place to live
Disadvantages: developments are taking a while
Grimsby, what an actual wonderful place to be. You take things that are right in from of you for granted and slate it everyday, but until your somewhere else, you never really realize how much you want to be back home. In case you haven't guessed yet I live in Grimsby and I just made it sound like I've moved away or I'm at university, but I'm not, I'm still living here.
Grimsby actually has a lot more to offer than people think, It's quite a large town now i'm thinking about it, we're made up of lots of surrounding villages such as Laceby, Aylesby, Bradley village, Scatho, Humberston, cleethorpes and lots more little villages which i'm sure not a lot of people knew that, although a lot of people class Cleethorpes as it's own town, it's really small so the majority class it as Grimsby and it stretches as far as holton le-clay, stallinborough and more!
There's currently a lot of developments and transformations going on I have seen 10 new very large doctors sites being built which can also perform small surgeries in sot hat means you don't have to go and wait 4 hours in the A&E for a fractured finger! woohoo! What could be better than that? it also means more people can be seen to and treated a lot quicker and efficiantly. The biggest talk about transformation at the moment, some of you that are from here or been heer may of heard of the dreaded yarborough estate? known for just walking down the first street and getting started on by yobs? well not anymore, it has all been demolished and every one have been moved out, once again another large doctors has been built next to the school and instead of the yarborough estate it has been renamed 'The Freshney Green' all new houses and apartments have been built and they just look beautiful with all fully decorated in a contempory design, my work friend has just bought an apartment on there and she loves it so much, the are isn't quite finished but it reminds me of one of those typical American streets you see in films, like the street from 'Edward Scissorhands' really prestine and clean and I would be really proud to live there.
We have a lot of our schools closing down and merging together to create academies, some of you may of hear of Hereford Technology being ripped down? well it was and re built and completely being re modernized, it's gorgeous, I went to school there and If we had the facilities that they have now, I'm pretty sure we all would of aimed a little bit higher. All our parks have been re designed and developed with little ice cream shops on and they're quite a cute place to be now.
Our shopping 'Freshney place' isn't the biggest, but it's really easy to get to and has the majority of what people want such as Top shop, starbucks, new look and loads more, it also has a lovely church outside with a nice courtyard and grassy areas, a lot of people congregate on the grass on summer days and the atmosphere with everyone is brilliant, we have a lot of events held there such as markets for foreign foods which is quite interesting and great to learn and taste. We sometimes have medieval festivals which is great for kids to learn the fun way.
The night life could really do with a massive improvment but we're getting there and i'm sure it's on Grimsby's to do list, the most popular is the matrix which is a rock club and has lots of local bands playing and it's an awesome night out and one of Grimsby's own local band 'Demoralizer' has just got a signed contract onto asking alexandra's label and are touring soon starting in Brighton and they're really swell guys with a big fan base already. There's also old lloyds which is our rock pub, gullivers our rock night club, and if you prefer the chart music, there's the clubs on the riverhead, and lots of other little pubs dotted around the nightlife. Thw weekends are pretty busy but if your planning on coming down, Tuesday is the night to do it, it's so busy you can hardly move anywhere but still manage to get served and is really cheap because it's student prices all night and is open until 5am.
A lot of people slate Grimsby, even if they haven't even been here so i suggest people come visit before hand because we have loads to offer, I went to Birmingham a month ago, and I have never prayed for home so much in my life, our streets are clean you don't feel foreign in your own home, you know people are friendly and your gonna have a good time, but in large cities like that, it's completely opposite.
Summary: grimsby ha a big to do list and we're getting through it brilliantly
