Advantages: lots to do
I have lived in Grimsby all of my life and I have to say it is quite a nice place to live in.
There is a shopping centre called Freshney Place. There are many shops here to choose from, such as Next, Dorothy Perkins, Sports Soccer, JJB, Virgin, Woolworths, Boots, W H Smith, Index, Argos and many others. I very really have to go elsewhere to find what I want.
Cleethorpes joins onto Grimsby and is very popular with thousands of tourists every year especially day-trippers from Yorkshire. There is a beach although I wouldn’t recommend swimming in it. There is also Pleasure Island that is a fairly big theme park. It has many big rides and my two kids love it. It is quite expensive though with tickets around £10.
Grimsby also has a first division football team who play their games at Blundell Park in Cleethorpes. My husband is a regular visitor there and although the team is lacking skill the ground is actually all right.
Grimsby has a big college that caters for many students on a variety of courses.
One problem with Grimsby is the lack of jobs. It is very difficult to find a well-paid job that is interesting and satisfying. There are many jobs available in fish factories but let’s face it, who wants to work in one of those.
Overall Grimsby is a nice friendly place to live. There are bad areas but there is wherever you go so you cannot win.
