Right I?ll be honest Grimsby isn?t one of the most attractive places to visit, to be honest I wouldn?t advise you to come here because it?s a bit well?.. Grim. But if for some reason life takes you to Grimsby I?ll point out the most attractive features there.
~~~Freshney Place~~~
Even though it?s not one of the largest towns, Grimsby has quite a good medium sized precinct called freshney place. This is one of the only reasons I come to Grimsby, as it has better shops then where I live (30 min away). This has all your main high street stores all under one roof, like your index, and your woolies, pilot, TK Maxx, virgin, HMV, Boots, Bay, Starbucks. And the rest. The facilities are good as well. If you are not that mobile, they hire out wheelchairs. And for the little kiddies push around cars for when they start moaning that their legs hurt. There are a number of toilets which are all nice and clean might I add. In all I think this is the best part of Grimsby
~~~~Leisure Centre and Auditorium~~~
These are next door to one another this is probably why I decided to put them into the same category. Although these are quite a way out of the main ?centre? of town so it is a little hard to find if you are not familiar with the area. But don?t worry too much it is signposted.
First I?ll talk about the leisure centre as I have been here more oftern. This is mainly because it has an ice skating rink. Ok I admit its only a small one but its still fun. Its open daily and on saterday night they have ice discos, which is a bit like your general disco but on ice. Great fun when I was a young teen wouldn?t fancy it much now though.. If you wanted to take your little children ice skating the best time to go is in the morning as all the young teenagers can?t drag themselves out of bed at this time to come ice skating ? what I?m trying to say is that its pretty quiet at this time.
As a leisure centre they have other
things to do as well. This involves a small (and I mean small) swimming pool) But I think this is just for little children to have a play about with their parents without getting scared by the other big adults. They also use this pool to teach people how to swim. They also have squash, badminton and tennis courts if you fancy a bit of racket activity. Not a very big place the leisure centre I admit. But an alright place to waste a couple of hours.
Now the auditorium. As you may have guessed, is where a number of shows go on and activities, we have also had a few concerts here to be honest. Not just by local bands, but three famous bands that have played here are Atomic Kitten, Weatus, and Liberty X. They must have been in a bad point in their career when they decided to play here, as well it isn?t the largest of places. The events that take place here are they often have craft stalls set up inside here, or car boots. I suppose to make some money when the auditorium isn?t showing anything.. Oh and I?ve just heard that blazing squad are going to be playing here next weekend, better inform my teenybopper friends of mine.
~~~Fishing Heritage centre~~~
This is the only museum/finding out place that I know of in Grimsby. As Grimsby has been a fishing town for centuries this takes you on a journey on what it would have been like to go on a trawler ship.. (wow very exciting I hear you all say). I Haven?t been here for years as I only visited it once or twice when I first moved to a town near Grimsby
~~~Cinema~~
Surprise surprise Grimsby does have a cinema in fact its just been converted into an Odeon. But the seats are still arranged so you can?t see over the persons head in front of you, the carpets are still sticky and there?s still a peculiar smell hanging in the air but apart from that it is an alright cinema. It is not in the centre but still down a shopping street called freeman street where you get all yo
ur saving stores charity shops and small businesses. It costs you £4.60 for adults and £3.60 for children, oh and the bargain day is Wednesday if you really wanted to know where all seats are £3.60.
~~~~Grimsby town football stadium~~~
Hey I almost forgot. If you are a big fan of football Grimsby have there own team but I very much doubt you?d want to support them, its actually in Cleethorpes even thought its Grimsby town playing but don?t ask me why, it can seat up to 10,000. Not bad for our old small town of Grimsby.
To be honest I can?t think of any more things to say about Grimsby, Its not a very interesting place and I
Wouldn?t advise you to come here on holiday. Just thought I?d warn you
