A Hoseasons Holiday!

Advantages: Good choice, well described, nice cottage
We recently went on a weeks holiday to Cornwall and I arranged it through Hoseasons holidays. They are kind of the experts in self catering holidays and offer UK Family Holidays specialising in providing short breaks and self catering holiday homes.
I had never used Hoseasons before but had definitely heard about them for years. I always thought they offered low quality breaks such as Butlins or Havens did but was pleasantly surprised when I actually did see what they offered. I was looking to book a cottage in Cornwall for the week. I firstly did a search on the internet but so many companies came up with hundreds of pages and none that were really particularly helpful. I didn't like the way the cottages were presented and it was hard to see if what you were getting was actually genuine or not.
So then I asked in a travel agents and she gave me a Hoseasons Cottages book. Apparently there are different books for all different types of holidays that you want such as parks, lodges, boats, villas etc but as I was specifically looking for a cottage this was the book that I took. I got the Southwest Book which consisted of Devon, Cornwall, Dorset and Somerset but you can also get them for as far up as Scotland which is good to know. The catalogue was really easy to follow as at the bottom of the page it was marked with what area you were in, such as Cornwall. Then, each cottage listing came with a photograph which I think is essential in picking where you are going to stay. Ok, sometimes photos can be taken at a good angle and so are not always representative but all in all to see something is way better than having to guess what it might look like. THe listing also told you how many people the cottage was for, how many bedrooms it had, if it was close to a pub (very important), beach, local attractions etc. What I found most helpful though was the little dog icon that was listed with some of the cottages. As we were taking our dog with us it was important for me to know whether dogs were allowed in the cottage or not. If the cottage listing fit not have a dog icon it was easy to eliminate that from my search before I started to read all the information and waste my time.
In the end I booked the cottage through the Hoseasons website although you could do it over the phone with the telephone number listed on the catalogue. It was quick and easy to book and I think we paid a 10% deposit at the time of the booking and then had to pay the balance about 6 weeks before the start of the holiday. I got an e-mail confirmation as well as a confirmation in the post. The e-mail confirmation gave me all the information I needed about the cottage and a contact number for the person who looks after the cottage if I had any questions.
The cottage was lovely and we had a really nice week. I think Hoseasons were a great company to use and I would definitely use them again.
