The Isle of Wight will not blow your mind away. Nor will it excite you for every second you spend there. What it will do though, is allow your batteries to recharge, it is one of the most ideal places in the UK for this purpose.
The area is roughly the size of greater London but with a lot less commercialism and more agriculture. It is shaped like a diamond and was called Vectis by the Romans as a consequence.
There are no trains on The Island (as our family have called it) so if you commute you will appreciate that novelty.
There are several attractions and 'amusement parks', two being Blackgang Chine to the south and Robin Hill to the north. Some others worthy of mention are the roman settlement in Newport, the main shopping town and the sand near Freshwater.
The weather is pleasent and usually mind although there have been some large storms in the past. During the recent snow probably the only place to escape was the Isle of Wight althought there was widespread frost.
If you go to the Isle of Wight not expecting a lot, you may find yourself pleasently surprised with what greets you.
Maybe im biased because I own part of a small bungalow in a small town called Niton on the southern tip, but I think is is quiet and will be ruined if the corporate businesses exploit it like they have have so many other areas of the country.
DONT LET THEM!

Hi!
NO trains?
What about our trusty stageline that runs from Shanklin to Ryde pier head (intersecting with Havenstreet steam train.) This service is reputed to be the most reliable in England!
