Advantages: Peacful and has lots of activities to keep you entertained
Disadvantages: A long hard drive to get there as it is on the other side of the highlands.
Kinlochewe is situated in the north west of scotland, just on the edge of the highlands.
I first visited Kinlochewe when i went fishing and climbing their with my father three years ago. We stayed in a place about 30 minutes north west of Kinlochewe called Gairloch, which was a lovely little village on the edge of the sea. We went fishing on many loches including Fionn loche, where we caught 3 trout all of which were over 5 pounds each and loch Torridon. Unfortunately fishing has rather deteriorated in this part of the country because of all the rare and wild species that now live their. So, many of the good fishing loches have been turned into SSI's(areas of special scientific interest). That is why we caught so little fish here.
Although fishing is a key entertainer in this part of Scotland, Red deer hunting has now become a popular sport for the rich clients, willing to pay plenty of money for a good weeks stalking.
There are many magnificent places to go in this area of Scotland. But i think a walk down to Greenstone point would be well worht it for the willing travellers as it is completely untouched by human activities and you can see right out into the atlantic and on a good day you amy even see the outer hebrides.
Another good reason for visiting Kinlochewe is that it has a massive availability of mountains to climb and many Munroes, of which i climbed two in the space of a week, including slioch and Sgurr Mor. Each of which took me about 12 hours to get up and down.
So i would advise a visit to Kinlochewe if not for the fishing and shooting(none of which has been affected by anti blood sport saboteurs) then just for the pure and peace and tranquility and for the lovely views.
