Plutonium! Is there plutonium in the depleted uranium shells fired from the Kirkcudbright range? 1,421 depleted uranium shells have been fired from the Kirkcudbright range since 1995. (Sunday telegraph 7/1/01) Depleted uranium (DU) shells were used in the Gulf War. When a DU shell hits its target, it explodes and vaporises.
