Lechlade is going to have a Music Festival to be held end of September annually if it is successful this year. It is to be held in the Memorial Hall, Lechlade which is in Gloucestershire. This event has been planned to provide Lechlade with an opportunity to enjoy music for all tastes in their own town, and in the own hall. If successful it could attract visitors from a wide spread area. The Gloucester Youth Jazz Orchestra will be in it. They play swing, jazz and popular standards written in the last 60s. It will be playing music made famous by Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Cole Porter, George Gershwin and of course Glenn Miller. For the Romantics there will be The St. Giles Orchestre which will be classical and romantic music. The Burford Singers will be there and they are very popular in the Cotswolds. Name it they will sing it. The tickets will be £6 but if 4 of you book it will be £20.00 I know this may not appeal to all but in a small place like Lechlade you have to applaud them for starting something new and for not just sitting around moaning that there is nothing going on. You never know if this works they may have festivals that appeal to the teenagers of the town.
