Advantages: A great place - and peaople

Disadvantages: one or two

I recently visited Leeds for the first time. Leeds has had a reputation of being "rough". However, I found the place to be very hospitable, people very friendly (apart from the couple of aggressive beggars on the street and the crooked staff at the all night cafe near to the venue I am writing about) - coming from Liverpool, I think I am qualified what ranks as good and bad people!

I went to see old goths "The Mission" perform at "The Cockpit", which from the outside, looked a right hole - litterally. Located under a railway bridge, it looked awful but once inside, it seemed like Dr Who's Tardis - it was quite big. The club itself had very friendly staff and I don't know if it was because of a concert but the sold beer in plastic "glasses", which always spoils a decent pint but one can understand why they are needed at times like this. A necessary evil.

The stage was small and the lighting rig was almost none-existant but apart from that, the place (and Leeds in general) was pleasantly a lot better than I anticipated. It's a pity it's so far away.
