I must say, I'm quite surprised reading these reviews. I'm a young professional and have lived in the town for just over a year. I commute into London every day and clearly live 'on the nice side of town' from what I've read because I've never had a problem and find the high street very nice. There's some very nice foodie independent retailers and a waitrose. Moreover the pubs are nice too.
Leighton is a town in Bedfordshire that is quite shit to be honest... It really has nothing to do but has drastically improved over the years in terms of drugs and crime but for how long i dont know. Back in around 2005-2008 it was very bad you couldnt go anywhere without seeing druggies or being offerd drugs (http://www.mk-news.co.uk/News/Towns-dirty-little-secret.htm news report of leightons drug problem) but nowa days the drugs have calmed down alot, thats not to say there isnt any drug dealers anymore there a still quite a few just not nearly as many as there use to be. The council estates like Meadow Way, Oakley Green and various other estates are still currently not nice places to live however and there layout is a hotbed for criminal activity and in the near future will most likley return to the much worse 2005-2008 state it use to be like. The amount of good shops in Leighton is very small if any, it is still mainly crappy small shops that the middle age residents like so much for some strange reason or chairty shops, there is a Morrisons and a Tesco that is due to be expanded which many belive will affect smaller indepent shops and me personally I hope it does and drives away the idiots who support them. There is not much to do in terms of lesiure either there is a overpriced lesiure center and a theater in the libary that shows films already released on dvd but apart from that your best bet is to go to Milton Keynes which is much better in all ways rather than leighton... Overall if you want to come to a town that has no good shops nothing to do and a ticking time bomb for the return of mass drug dealers, druggies and other criminals then this is defintley the town you should choose however if you read my review and head my warning then you will have a much better life or if like many who live in leighton like me that want to move to mk or anywhere better i bid you good luck in escaping this shithole...
Leighton Buzzard Is a lovely town to live' I moved here in 2002 from Aylesbury but grew up in Stevenage. I have two children now that were born in Stoke Mandeville hospital which is a excellent hospital and close to leighton Buzzard. To bring up a young family in this town is excellent as it is safe, small enough to know the area but big enough to have space and enjoyment! We often bike along the canal to the Globe for a family tea then after have a slow bike ride back. Its no more then 40mins to London for the night life and shopping and 15miles to Milton Keynes for a day out at the cinema and meal. My children can play out in the park on there own knowing it is safe. Leighton Buzzard provides Everything a town should be and I would not move any where else!
Well, I must be a true leightoner as I have lived here my whole life, it may not be the best place in the world to live but over the last couple of years it has been getting better. Leighton Buzzard is a funny little town in between Luton and Milton Keynes about 30 miles each way. There are many different types of families which live here, there are the millionaires and very rich people who live on one side of the town, another side where all the run down houses and old flats are etc, but the rest of it is just normal really, just your typical everyday family. We do have a high street not that there's a lot there, the main shops are probably, Woolworths, Boots, WH Smiths with many other shops around such as Peacocks, Blockbusters, Superdrug and many more little shops. I don't quite know why but there seems to be a bank after every 100 meters or so. Not like many people are going to spend money in Leighton. The Nightlife though is good for a little town such a Leighton with 3 nightclubs, 4 major bars and over 20 pubs. Sometimes the nightlife can be a bit too much and you may often see a fight or two but where don't you. The nightclubs are called Elements, Shades and O’Neil’s. Shades and O'Neils are over 18's where Elements is for over 21's. The Bars are Renoir’s, The Litten Tree, The Waterborne and Elements. Inside the town we have a few gyms and fitness places such as Tiddenfoot, in which there is a gym, 2 x swimming pools, cafe and sports hall, which is also used by one of the 2 high schools, we have here. These are Cedars and Vandyke, they are kind of rival schools from different sides of the town but of course they are. Leighton Buzzard has a few little villages around us such as Wing, Tring, Toddington, Stanbridge, Tilsworth, Heath and Reach, Hockliffe and a few others. If you were ever thinking of coming to Leighton I must ask why? there isn't really much here, I suppose the one night out in Leighton would be ok but for anything else I wouldn't bother. Unless you were visiting a relative or something.
I have lived in Leighton Buzzard now for a long time now!! Unfortunately for as long as I have been here nothing new has happened!! I have grown older and so has Leighton Buzzard but I have changed and Leighton has not. There is very little to do in Leighton Buzzard, there are plenty of parks for little kids but there is not much for the older generations to do. There is a leisure centre in Linslade called Tidenfoot but you cant really cant that as its in Linslade. There is a miniature railway, which runs straight trough the town, and there is a park at one end and a museum in the other end. This is very good for Kids as the park is well equipped. Leighton Buzzard is littered with small villages on the out side there are ,Tring, Hockliffe and Heath and Reach! Another thing, which is littered around Leighton Buzzard, is Fields. These are very nice to go walks in but make sure you know its ok! The house in Leighton Buzzard are a complete range, you have some really nice estates and some really poor and run down areas. One of the main problems with Leighton Buzzard is the range and amount of people in here. There are too many teenagers just “hangin” around on the streets. But there is not enough for teenagers to do so its there own fault really!! I would not recommend Leighton a place to live in!
Leighton Buzzard... How am I going to get 75 words from this!! My Life in Leighton I have lived in Leighton all 20 years of my life and I have been dying to get out. But that isn't actually fair on this quite pleasnat town although there aren't many things to do. I went through Lower, Middle, and Upper schools at Leighton. Started off my education at Beaudesert, then continued on to Gilbert Inglefield and my Upper school was just furthur up the road Vandyke where I also stayed to do my A Levels for a furthur 2 years (because there was nothing to do!!) There are many other schools in Leighton as it is very education wise with about a furthur 7 lower schools, 3 middle schools and 2 upper schools. But then I left school and got into the wide world of looking for a job in Leighton to raise the money to leave. I started off working in Safeway and I am still there now, this is not because I didn't raise the cash but I enjoy working there and have made good friends, and earn enough money to go out to enjoy the amazing nightlife of Leighton Buzzard. Pubs/Clubs There are lots of them in Leighton but most of them are very lapse when it comes to keeping the immature under age drinkers out. Take the Litten Tree for example, I can see at least 5-10 under age drinkers every Friday and Saturday night when I am out with mates. The other clubs such as Harpers, Waterfront are very poor and they charge far too much for drinks and the entertainment is very poor, I mean one night I was in Harpers and NSync came on, no offense to NSync fans but oh dear, in a night club, not for me thanks. The pubs shut at 11 and NEVER have a lock in, so you have to make your way into town to get a drink. On a whole the nightlife is very poor in Leighton and although you will spend more money in Milton Keynes I would definatley recommend going there as it is much better. Daytime Entertainment Never have experienced much of this because I h ave been working! There is 1 leisure centre called Tiddenfoot which has 2 pools and can also cater for things sports such as Table Tennis, Tennis, Squash and also an indoor sports hall which you can play Football and Badminton in. There is a library which also has cinema screens but is very poor quality and once again I would recommend going to Milton Keynes for your daytime entertainment. Leighton in General Leighton is a very bad area for youths to live in, as they have no where to go and usually find themselves hanging around outside Dillons, the local newsagent. With nothing to do in Leighton for these youths this could lead to them drinking and in some cases take drugs as Leighton has one of the worst drug records in Leighton. The council needs to provide entertainment and more fun things to do for the youths to keep them away from mischief, not playgrounds, but something that all youths can relate to. Town Centre Very poor, with the main areas of concentration seem to be womens clothes shops. There are also card shops, mobile phone shops but there is only 1 sports shop and NO shops for mens clothing. The one mens clothes shop which was here, Fosters, was replaced by a clothes shop for fat women, no offense to anyone, but can't larger women be catered for in shops such as New Look, and Select. Estate Agents. There are so many of these, 16 in total. I don't know why there are so many seeing as I wouldn't move to area. So basically all I have to say is, stay well away from Leighton because there is nothing for you to do apart from sit around doing nothing!! Thanks for reading, Seymour :o)

Please don’t snub LB it took me ages. I like Leighton Buzzard and everyone says its bad read my op I hope it changes your opinion on it. Leighton Buzzard or LB is the town I have lived in for 10 years. And I really like the town. I live in a nice estate. Its called Apennine. The houses in the area are nice they got a 3 / 4 bedrooms in each house. In our house we have a loft conversion which makes up our 4 th room. There are other nice streets and estates and I little village called Heath & Reach. There are some nice estates around there too. But when there is good there is bad. There are some bad estates I am not going to name but they are run down and there is a lot of crime in them. This town is not really for youths if you are not on the extreme of being cool or do drugs/ drink/ smoke or anything else illegal. Sometimes I find my self but on the spot by this people and they can be very intimidating when there is 20 of them and 1 of you. The town is for the older people. Sort of 40+ this is because it would be a nice place for retirement if you find a nice area. And you could go in one of the pubs or take a walk down the country lanes or the canal. There are a few attractions like there is Tiddenfoot leisure centre, which has swimming pools and other leisure activities. There are also shops like Woolworths and Wh smiths. There are various other little shops which are unique to our town. That will be until there bought out that is. There are plenty of estate agents and charity shops as well. The town as good traffic links with roads likes Milton Keynes and motor ways. There is a train station where sometimes I take my little brother to watch the trains. I mentioned before the canal. You could spend hours here just watching the canal bouts go by or fishing. There are also many bad aspects of LB as well. There are bad children around who often beat up people when drunk. There are people who st art fires, steal cars and do robberies of homes. This is to much for a police force and they are closed after midnight anyway. You may find our little town boring but I don’t care. My life My town and My opinion. Chris
Leighton Buzzard, yawwwwwwwn! What a boring place to be, I'm saying this when I live just outside it, compareed to where live Leighton Buzzard is Alton Towers, but if I wanted to have a FUN time then I'd probably go down to Watford, Hemel Hempstead or go up Milton Keynes. But Leighton Buzzard does have a few good things about it, there's quite a lot of shops, that's about it. The McDonalds which seems to be the most exciting thing about Leighton at the moment is about a mile away from the town centre, it's meant ass a stop for motorists, not for the actual town itself. So my opinion on Leighton Buzzard is BORING!!!!!!

Leighton Buzzard, i'm sorry to say, is one of the worst places i've been in my life - and I lived there for 10 years! I moved to neighbouring village Wing 2 years ago and I was very happy to leave. Having said that, now I wish I was back there. I mean, the town itself has nothing to offer whatsoever, apart from the three dozen estate agents and half-a-million pubs of course. There is a crummy little nightclub called Shades which is allways packed with people who cant be bothered to make the journey to Milton Keynes on a Friday night and peole who have literally fallen out of a pub door and into shades itself. Over the years Shades has had a number of nicknames including the "Bin" and the "S***-hole". There are hundreds of estate agents although I can't see how they get any profit because no-one wants to live here. The recently developed "Waterbourne Walk" was a complete failure just like everything else in this place. It was supposed to be a great new shopping area except there are loads of empty gaps where shops are Supposed to be. There are loads of hardware stores which is great if you love hardware but for the average 14yr old boy there is nothing whatsoever. Tiddenfoot used to be the highlight of my weekend a few years ago but now I just cant be bothered anymore. What we need is a cinema, a DECENT swimming pool and a few more partys to go to. It seems stupid the fact that I still wish I lived there after what I said but Wing is even worse. That is what you expect from a tiny Buckinghamshire village though isn't it I suppose. The thing is, all of my friends from my lower and middle school life live in leighton and I find that I would much rather hang around with them than my new mates. For some reason, nearly every single teenager in the whole of leighton buzzard is either a drug dealer, a smoker or both. The crime is much more than most places and that is understand able when you live next door to places like Nelson Road and Meadow Way. There is on average, 20 fires lit by youngsters per night in leighton and I wouldn't be surprised if there are more. Good luck if you are thinking of moving here - jezzboyd
I'm gonna try and write a positive opinion for this crap dump of a town...i mean this beautiful, lovely...oh what the hell! Leighton Buzzard is quite a boring town and there's very little for teenagers to do, resulting in quite a lot of vandalism. There is one leisure centre that I can think of, but its not brilliant and quite far away. Most people travel by bus or train to other places such as Milton Keynes. There are some scenic areas for the elderly such as All Saints Church, and there is quite a good library, which is mainly visited by young kids and adults. Throughout the years, the rubbish on the streets has got worse and the number of homeless people living there has increased. The centre of town is the high street, where there are shops, such as Woolworths and WHSmiths. These are quite small but sell most of the things you may need. The area is dull and cementy and should change! I have given the town 2 stars out of 5, but don't think its even slightly good, I ave it that much out of pity and generosity! So...Leighton Buzzard is a dull, boring, crap, cementy and vandalised dump, but THINK POSITIVE!
I'm going to have to agree with every one else, Leighton Buzzard is Boring.... However wot the saying 'a town is wot u make it' so surely if every one thinks it boring thens it gonna be. so why dont people do any thing about it, instead of critising and doing nothing. People in general are very good in blaming other people, we are a community which should stick together and build on a town rather then sit back and let it fall down hill. OK, theres Milton Keynes, and Luton, but wot do they really have to offer, leighton Buzzard has over 40 pubs....., and a historical background which really is quite interesting, if u want to read about it.
As I sit down to write this opinion in my little house I happened to look out of the window at the town I live in...what a view. The sky is grey/black like it has been for most of the day and rain is pelting against the window. I glance out to the road and see 4 lorries rumble past the severly pot-holed road-speaking of which I have not seen my friend, who went for a bike ride, for 4 days I wonder where he went! Leighton Buzzard is probably the most boring place that I could think of to live in- I'll just run through the major attractions for you: There. Get my point. There is absolutely nothing of any interest in Leighton buzzard so I advise you not to come here unless of course you have a vested interest in the dirty canal that runs through our town. I have often wondered about the people who made this town here-I mean living in a dirty dull excuse for a town can depress anyone-hmmm I see why this town was built by a canal...in the olden days people must of came here got depressed and suicidal and drown themselves in, it all makes perfect sense. I have just racked my brains for the last five minutes to try and come up with a good point of my delightful little town and this is the best I could do-Maybe this town and all the other dreary, despairing towns around England are part of a secret operation by the government to turn young people into a superior race by subjecting them to 16 years of despair so that they will excel at school in the hope of getting a good job and eventually leaving this town. Argh! Tony Blair and his squad of spin doctors are here, I've rumbled their secret plan-spread the word people. I'm off down the canal to drown my sorrows.
I have lived in Leighton Buzzard all my life. It is a small rural town located in the south east of England. It has a high street which consists mainly of womens shops, normal high street shops such as Woolworths and W H Smiths and loads of charity shops. There is a market every Tuesday and Saturday located in the high street. Your best bet for shopping is to travel to either Hemel Hempstead for the Marlowes shopping centre or to Milton Keynes where they have many shops. The one chance of some entertainment is the 1 movie screen in the library, thats right 1 screen! The films they show are usually old, I think they are still showing Jurassic Park. There is a leisure centre which is Tiddenfoot which has recentley been redeveloped which is a good thing. However the best thing you can do when swimming is float around on a mat(believe me it is as exciting as it sounds!!) There are major food shops such as Tesco's , Safeways and Waitrose. The education is good with lots of schools at lower, middle and upper stages. The 6th form stage at schools is good with many courses offered. There seems to be a lot of estate agents, over 10. The thing I don't understand is why they need so many as the houses don't get sold very often due to the area. There are lots of pubs and clubs which is a good thing for all those who go out on a Friday and Saturday night. There is a train line which runs to London Euston so thats a positive side for business people who have to travel round for there work. There isn't a major fast food chain in Leighton though plans to build a McDonalds have just been approved. The council don't seem to want to spend there millions!!!!! on improving the dump. If you are travelling somewhere try to avoid passing through Leighton, not that it will take you long anyway!!!!! So all I have to say is Leighton Buzzard is S**T.
