Advantages: Lol!

Disadvantages: Read opinion!

Leighton Buzzard is a dump. It's the least exciting place to visit throughout England, and just think - some of us have to live here! I've only had 2 years of misfortune after moving from Romford in Essex, but 2 years is plenty of time to get well acquainted with what's here. Why? Because there's nothing here.

That isn't strictly true, but in terms of anything that may be of interest, Leighton Buzzard ranks in as one of the dullest places to stay in. The most pointless building in LB? The Swan hotel. Why on earth would anyone want to spend an hour here yet alone a weekend away or a holiday!? I'm sorry, The Swan is a great hotel, with a fairly upmarket classy restaurant with a friendly pub/bar encased there, but there seems little point in having a hotel!

What makes Leighton Buzzard so b-o-r-i-n-g? Maybe it's something to do with the obscene council running of the place, the way our 'town centre' is becoming an OAP retirement home, and the fact that we have a £1million shopping centre called Water Bourne Walk, which hasn't actually got any shops in it! Oh yeah, there's a pound stretcher, a SuperDrug and a Waitrose. Don't delay that trip to Milan girls...

We have a few shops that sell items of use however, from the woolworths, which is inproportionally big to the WHSmith which doesn't really sell anything. We have a boots! There aren't any clothes stores, or anything that you'd consider shopping at, although Leighton is ok for groceries - Tesco and Safeway being the two supermarkets that hold the town together. There's a horrible decline in industrial activity, with everywhere shutting at the earliest opportunity.

How is Leighton Buzzard ever going to develop then? It is and yet it isn't. There are around 30,000 people living here, and new homes are being built all the time - so why no large retail park?? That'd be a great inclusion, but the only reason people l
ive in Leighton, and why our houses cost an insane amount of money, is that we're near to London and Milton Keynes - that's where most people work. We move to Leighton only to go away again. I guess people like living in quiet towns! Maybe the houses ran out in London though (oh and the prices?)...

Crime. Unsurprisingly, crime is way above the national average, probably because we don't have any police here. Never mind. The most interesting thing that has happened lately is Buzzard Records getting bricked, it seems as though everyone here has a destructive nature - they just want to destroy the good things in the town! Oh yeah, it's probably - definitely because they're bored. There is nothing to do here!

Leisure. Apart from the fitness centres, which aren't the greatest thing to happen, and aside from Tidden Foot's crusty facilities, and Bell Close's whining tennis courts, there is nothing here. Ok so that may sound like something, but the Gypsy's stole the Tennis arenas, Tidden Foot is the most boring, and disgustingly expensive place to get some exercise, so the best bet is to kick a ball about somewhere. Leighton Buzzard is great for walking your dog though - the evidence is, well, evident. Dog shi...mess everywhere - pretty much sums up my town.

Housing - generally there is a very mixed quality of housing in Leighton. From the newly developed houses to some real water holes, like Meadow Way for example - lots of criminal activity happening there, whoever designed the housing plans...oh and crime is really high there too. Plantation Road has the biggest houses with the most character and style in my opinion, but Marley Fields, Harrow Road, the Planets area and the newly developed Billington park all have fairly impressive homes! But the old town houses look real grotty!

Improvements? I don't think Leighton will improve in the very near future - people deliberately go out of their way to
avoid going through this town - that's why they built the by-pass! The council have shown that they do not care at all about LB, all that happens is another old people's home gets built, next to the market square, so they don't have far to walk - the amount of over 65's must be around 50%! No offence to the oldies, but spreading around is 'good'.

Pollution. There are some very suspect looking industrial estates, from the Cherry Court Way slums, to the slightly better Grovebury Road ind est - the pollution isn't that bad, but believe me - The Tuffnell's green lorries must be running on something other than standard fuel - yuck! There are some really strange smelling streets scattered about the place, but I recommend Tesco's bakery for the nicest array of sweet smelling freshly baked loaves! Pollution from traffic is really quite bad though, as no one likes using the by-pass, some believe it's just one complete oval...

Overall, a fantastic place to lose your sanity from the estranged sense of bereavement - you feel like you've lost something when you've lived here. Maybe I'm just being short sighted, but hey - Mel and Sue didn't like it! Anyone see room 101 the other week? Shame - Paul Merton didn't really need to throw us into room 101 - we're already there.

This has been an ordeal.

I was speaking to my sister yesterday, home visiting my mother, and she was saying that they have a rally bad drugs problem there.

Now come ON!.. Some very nice people live in LB..I did myself once..And honestly it was once a great little market town. Tiddly Tuesday when all the pubs ( about 50 of them) opened from about 7-00am till 11-00pm was a real hoot..
